Charging and Rinsing Lines

If you are pumping chemicals through long hoses, you need to account for the liquid inside the hose. Charge Line and Rinse Line are two independent toggles — the Charge Input Line and Rinse Input Line buttons on a product's card, while the cards are in edit mode on the Mix Preview page — that handle this at the start and end of a mix.
Charge Line: Select this if your hose is currently full of water. The machine pushes that water out and fills the line with chemical before it starts measuring product toward the mix.
Rinse Line: Select this to flush the hose with water once the product is nearly done, so the chemical left sitting in the line still makes it into the mix instead of being wasted or left behind.
Both: Select both if you want the line to start clean and end clean for the same product.
Prerequisites
Section titled “Prerequisites”Water Pre-charge (Charge Line only): Charge Line only works if the input line has already been pre-charged with water. This ensures there is no air in the line and provides a solid column of liquid for the meter to measure as the chemical pushes the water through.
Configuration Settings: Both features need the system to know the volume of the hose — until Hose Dimensions are set, the Charge Input Line and Rinse Input Line buttons won't even appear on the product's card in Mix Preview.
Go to the Data tab > Mixmates > Configuration.
In the Assemblies tab, select your product input.
Ensure you have accurately entered the Hose Diameter and Hose Length.
Charge Line
Section titled “Charge Line”The Charge Line feature is an inventory management tool used during a mix to account for the chemical required to displace water in a supply hose. By using this feature, you ensure that your product inventory stays accurate and that you don't "short" your first mix after a tote change. The best time to use this is during the very first mix after switching to a new tote.
Using Charge Line During a Mix
Section titled “Using Charge Line During a Mix”Set Up Your Mix: Select your Work Order as usual.
Access Mix Preview: On the Mix Preview page (the screen you see just before hitting "Start"), find the list of products for that mix.
Open Product Details: Press the pencil icon floating action button in the bottom-left corner to switch the product cards into edit mode. This reveals the Charge Input Line and Rinse Input Line buttons directly on the card of the product that needs to be charged.
Toggle Charge Line: Tap the Charge Input Line button to turn it on.
Run the Mix: Return to the preview and press Start.
How Charge Line Works
Section titled “How Charge Line Works”When the Charge Line toggle is active, the Mixmate performs a "measured displacement":
The Displacement: The system opens the product valve and pulls chemical until the water previously in the hose has been completely pushed out into the carrier stream.
The Measurement: The system uses your Hose Diameter and Length settings to calculate exactly how much chemical was used to fill that plumbing.
Inventory Accounting: This "charge volume" is added to your total product usage for that job. This prevents inventory slippage, ensuring your digital records match the actual level in your tote.
The Mix: Once the line is fully charged with chemical, the system immediately begins measuring the target amount required for the current mix.
Rinse Line
Section titled “Rinse Line”The Rinse Line feature is activated on the Mix Preview page the same way Charge Line is — tap the Rinse Input Line button to turn it on for a product's card before starting the mix.
How Rinse Line Works
Section titled “How Rinse Line Works”Stopping Short: As the product nears completion, the system stops delivering pure product once the amount remaining to be added equals the volume of chemical still sitting in the hose. At that point, it pauses the entire mix, not just this product.
Prompt: The tablet prompts you to close the product valve at the source (e.g., the tote) and open the line to a rinse water source instead.
Confirm: Once you confirm the line is connected for rinsing, the machine reopens the same product valve and pulls the rinse water through that product's line, pushing the remaining chemical in the hose into the mix.
Manual Stop: Rinsing continues until you tell the machine to stop — there is no automatic cutoff. When you do, the machine closes that product's valve.
Resume: The mix resumes with the rest of the Work Order.
Verification
Section titled “Verification”Your choices (Charge, Rinse, or Both) appear as icons or text on the product card before you start the mix, so you can verify the operation before pressing Start.
Summary of Benefits
Section titled “Summary of Benefits”Eliminates Inventory Slippage: Charge Line accounts for the chemical that lives in the hoses, not just what goes in the sprayer.
Ensures Immediate Flow: Because the line was pre-charged with water (no air), the chemical starts moving toward the manifold the instant the valve opens.
Better Accuracy: Charge Line prevents the first load of a new tote from being "weak" because the system was busy filling an empty hose.
Nothing Wasted: Rinse Line pushes the chemical left in the hose into the mix instead of leaving it stranded in the line.
