Connectivity
What’s My Mixmate Wi-Fi Password?
There isn’t one to give you — Wi-Fi passwords are machine-specific and aren’t shared or published. You don’t need it anyway: any time the app needs to talk to your machine (Manual Mode, firmware updates, or running a mix), it connects to the correct Mixmate network automatically.
If it won’t connect on its own, it’s almost always because a password was manually entered into that network at some point. Go to your tablet’s Wi-Fi settings, find the Mixmate network, and select “Forget Network.” Reopen the Mixmate app and it will reconnect automatically with the correct settings.
Connecting for the First Time
It is a common mistake to try to connect to the Mixmate Wi-Fi the same way you connect to a home network. Because the Mixmate system handles its own security, the connection process is designed to be automatic.
Do not enter a Wi-Fi password. The Mixmate generates its own private network specifically for the tablet to control the hardware. The Mixmate app is designed to securely and automatically join this network without manual intervention.
The Golden Rule: Never enter anything into the password field. If you try to manually enter a password, it can actually prevent the app from auto-connecting in the future.
Fixing a Connection Error
If you cannot connect, or if you previously entered a password and now the system won’t link up, follow these steps:
- “Forget” the Network: If you have already entered a password, you must reset the connection. Go to the Tablet Settings > Wi-Fi, find the Mixmate Wi-Fi network, long-press it, and select “Forget Network.” Re-open the Mixmate app; it should now attempt to reconnect automatically with the correct settings.
- Check for Other Devices: The Mixmate hardware is designed to communicate with only one device at a time. If another tablet, phone, or laptop is already connected to the Mixmate Wi-Fi, the Mixmate will appear “busy” or invisible to your primary tablet.
- Verify Power: Ensure the Mixmate Power Module is turned on and receiving adequate voltage. If the system doesn’t have power, it cannot broadcast the Wi-Fi signal.
Pro-Tip: Internet vs. Mixmate Wi-Fi. While you are connected to the Mixmate hardware, your tablet usually will not have internet access (unless using a cellular-enabled tablet). You will need to switch back to a standard Wi-Fi hotspot or cellular data to sync to the cloud.
Preventing Your Tablet From Disconnecting (Intelligent Wi-Fi / Wi-Fi Assist)
To maintain a stable connection between your tablet and the Mixmate hardware, you must prevent your device from automatically switching away from the Mixmate Wi-Fi signal. Modern devices often do this when they detect a network that “has no internet.”
For Android Devices (Samsung, Pixel, etc.) — Android often calls this “Intelligent Wi-Fi” or “Adaptive Connectivity.”
- Open Settings on your tablet.
- Go to Connections > Wi-Fi.
- Tap the three dots (⋮) or “More” in the top right corner.
- Select Intelligent Wi-Fi.
- Find the toggle for “Switch to mobile data” and turn it OFF.
- (Optional but recommended) Turn off “Switch to better Wi-Fi networks” as well.
For iOS Devices (iPad/iPhone) — Apple calls this “Wi-Fi Assist.”
- Open Settings.
- Select Cellular (or Mobile Data).
- Scroll all the way to the very bottom (past all your individual apps).
- Find the toggle for Wi-Fi Assist and turn it OFF.
Why this is required: The Mixmate hardware creates a local Wi-Fi network to talk to your tablet. Because this network is for machine control and not for browsing the web, your tablet’s “smart” features will flag it as a “poor connection” and try to disconnect. Turning these settings off forces the tablet to stay locked onto the Mixmate hardware.
Don’t forget to Forget: If your tablet keeps trying to jump to a nearby shop Wi-Fi or home network while you are trying to mix, go into your Wi-Fi settings, select that network, and tap “Forget Network” or disable “Auto-Join.”
Other Causes of Random Disconnects (401 Error)
The most common cause of random disconnects between the tablet and the Mixmate is power related. Depending on your charging system and the battery, the system can see very low voltage spikes that cause oddities without being low enough for long enough to trigger the low voltage emergency shutdown — see Power Check.
Other disconnects happen because the tablet and Mixmate get too much distance between each other — typically more than 100 feet.
Other things to check:
Set Screen Timeout longer: The screen turning off may cause disconnect issues.
Make sure Location Services is turned on. Automatic management of Wi-Fi requires location.
Make sure permissions are granted.
If you have a cellular device: Make sure you have turned off cellular data override.
- Make sure your device software is up to date. Go to device settings and check for updates. For Samsung devices: swipe down from the top right of the screen > tap the Gear icon > scroll to the bottom of the menu > Software Update > Download and Install. Repeat until it shows “Your software is up to date.”
Still Having Problems? Uninstall and Reinstall the App
If none of the above resolves it, uninstall the Mixmate App completely and reinstall it — accepting every permission the app asks for as it asks for it.
Why this works: Device software updates sometimes change how permissions, Wi-Fi management, or background processes behave without you doing anything. A fresh install is often the only way to “refresh” the app’s connection to those behind-the-scenes changes and get it working with your device’s current software again.
