Tablet Error 204 - Device Missing
Error 204 occurs when the Mixmate system cannot detect a specific component (such as a valve, sensor, or inductor) on the communication network that it needs to perform a task.
Why am I getting this error?
Section titled “Why am I getting this error?”You will receive Error 204 when the machine is unable to find a device on the CAN bus that is required to run the current operation. The CAN bus is the "nervous system" of your Mixmate, allowing the master controller to talk to all the different hardware parts. If one of those parts stops responding or loses power, the system triggers this error to prevent an incomplete or inaccurate mix.
How do I resolve this error?
Section titled “How do I resolve this error?”1. Simple System Reset
Section titled “1. Simple System Reset”The first step is to reboot the Mixmate hardware. Power the system down completely and then turn it back on. This forces the master controller to re-scan the network and attempt to re-establish a connection with all plugged-in devices.
2. Check Power
Section titled “2. Check Power”A component can drop off the CAN bus simply because it isn't getting enough voltage to power its communication chip, even if it's wired correctly. This is especially common for a component located far from the Power Module, where wiring resistance causes more voltage drop under load. See Power Check for the full procedure.
3. Check CAN Bus Resistance
Section titled “3. Check CAN Bus Resistance”Like other communication errors — such as 208 — this can be caused by improper electrical termination. See CAN Bus Resistance Check for the full testing procedure.
4. Physical Connection Check
Section titled “4. Physical Connection Check”If power and CAN bus resistance both check out, inspect the wiring throughout your setup. Ensure that:
All devices are fully plugged into the harness.
No cables have been pinched, cut, or frayed.
All components are receiving power (check for status lights on individual valves or modules).
