Understanding and Creating Rates

A Rate is a quantity measured with respect to another measured quantity (e.g., Gallons per Acre). In Mixmate, these rates are used within your Work Order to ensure the system calculates the mix properly.

Creating a New Rate

To add a new rate to your list, navigate to the Rates overview page and press the blue "+" button in the lower right corner.

Rate Configuration

FieldDescription
Top Unit of Measurement*The primary unit you are measuring. For "Gallons/Acre," this would be Gallons.
Bottom Unit of Measurement*The unit you are measuring against. For "Gallons/Acre," this would be Acre.
Bottom Factor*This defines the "per" amount and defaults to 1.0.
Rate NameThis is the name generated by the system that will appear in your pick lists.

How the Bottom Factor Works

The Bottom Factor allows you to create rates for specific concentrations beyond a standard "per 1" unit.

  • Standard Rate: If you want "Gallons per 1.0 Acre," leave the Bottom Factor at 1.0.

  • Concentration Rate: If you want to achieve a rate like "Fluid Ounces per 100 Gallons," you would configure it as follows:

    • Top Unit: Fluid Ounces

    • Bottom Unit: Gallons

    • Bottom Factor: 100.0

Applying Rates Throughout the App

Rates are the engine that allows your Work Order to scale. By defining a rate, you transition from a static instruction to a dynamic one that automatically adjusts to the size of your mix.

1. Setting Default Rates for Products

To save time during Work Order creation, you can assign a Default Rate to each individual Product. When you add a product to a new Work Order, Mixmate will automatically select your preferred rate (e.g., Fl Oz/Acre).

2. Rate Selection in the Work Order

When building a Work Order, the rates you've defined dictate how the system handles the chemistry:

  • Application Rate: Defines the final volume applied to the field (e.g., 15 Gallons/Acre).

  • Product Rates: Defines the concentration of each chemical added to the carrier.

3. Automatic Scaling during the Mix

When an operator starts a mix, they enter the target acreage or volume. Mixmate looks at the Work Order rates and automatically calculates the exact volume of each product and the carrier required for that specific mix size.
