If a load cell connector becomes corroded or physically damaged, it must be replaced to ensure accurate weight readings. Follow these steps to install a new connector properly.
Refer to the diagram below for the specific pin assignments. Correct placement is vital for the scale to communicate with the Mixmate tablet.
Prepare the Wire: Cut the wire away from the old connector. Ensure you cut back far enough to remove all existing heat shrink and any potentially corroded copper.
Disassemble the New Connector: Take the new connector apart. Place the thick seal into the rear part of the connector housing.
Slide Housing onto Wire: Slide the housing (along with the seal) onto the wire. Push it back far enough so it stays out of your way while you work on the individual strands.
Strip the Outer Jacket: Strip approximately 1 inch (25 mm) of the outer insulation jacket to expose the internal wires.
Strip Individual Wires: Strip the end of each small wire approximately 1/8 inch (3 mm).
The "Fold-Back" Technique: Fold the exposed copper wire back over its own insulation.
Note: This creates a thicker surface for the terminal screw to bite into, ensuring a reliable and vibration-resistant connection.
Wire to Pins: Insert the wires into the numbered terminals according to the diagram:
Pin 8: Bare Wire (Shield)
Pin 2: White Wire
Pin 3: Red Wire
Pin 4: Green Wire
Pin 5: Black Wire
Final Assembly: Slide the housing back up to the terminal block and screw the connector together. Make sure to tighten the rear seal to prevent moisture from entering the housing.
