ARAG Orion X 3" Mag Meter Manual
ARAG Orion X 3" Magmeter Specifications & Installation
The Orion X is an electromagnetic flowmeter designed for agricultural applications
. Because it is electromagnetic, it contains no moving parts, making it ideal for chemicals, provided they meet the minimum conductivity requirements.
Measuring Range: 50 – 2500 L/min (approx. 13.2 – 660.4 GPM)
Accuracy: +/- 1% of the measured value (within the 250 to 2500 L/min range)
Maximum Pressure: 5 bar (approx. 72.5 PSI)
Liquid Conductivity: Must be equal to or greater than 300 µS/cm
Operating Temperature: 0°C to +60°C (32°F to +140°F)
2. Hydraulic Installation Logic
To ensure measurement accuracy and prevent turbulence, follow these placement rules:
The 10x Rule: Install a straight pipe section both upstream and downstream of the meter. The length must be at least 10 times the inner diameter
Avoid Turbulence: Position the meter away from valves, bends, or bottlenecks
Air Pocket Prevention: Always mount the meter in a position that favors the drainage of air
Electrode Protection: Install the meter at least 3 cm (approx. 1.2 inches) away from metal masses
3. Electrical Connections & Pinouts
The Orion X features two ports: Frequency and CAN Bus. Use the following pinout for wiring to your Mixmate modules:
Frequency Port (Pulse Output):
4. Status LED Indicators
The multi-color LED on the back of the meter provides instant diagnostic feedback:
Blue (Steady): Measurement active; liquid is flowing
Green (Steady): Liquid is present but still (no flow)
Violet (Steady): No liquid detected inside the meter
White (Steady): Electrode cleaning in progress
Red (Blinking): Error detected (refer to the pulse count for specific error codes)
5. Maintenance
Post-Mix Flush: Always run clean water through the meter after each treatment session
Electrode Cleaning: If the reading becomes unstable, use a special detergent to clean the pipe. Do not use metal or abrasive objects as they will damage the internal electrodes
